“Find Your Fit”
All UW Systems Campuses use holistic scoring when reviewing admissions applications. They look at students’ complete admissions profile, including: course rigor, ACT score, grades, class rank, community service, letters of recommendation and personal statements.
Below are the highlights each campus would like this year’s high school seniors to know:
UW-River Falls
·         Part of twin-cities metropolitan area
·         40% of the student population comes from out of state
·         Freshman and sophomores are required to live on-campus, and are guaranteed housing regardless of the application date
·         18 varsity sports
·         Strong in: honors programs, office of 1st year experience, study abroad and undergraduate research
·         Program Highlights: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, College of Business and Economics, Horticulture, Pre-Vet
·         Limited enrollment in animal science and elementary education (apply early!)
·         Students’ admissions applications automatically used for scholarships
UW- Platteville
·         Program Highlights: hands-on learning, appreciation for culture and diversity
·         Require freshman and sophomore to live on campus; send in housing contract early- space is limited!
·         New majors: Forensic Investigation (cadaver lab), Engineering camp
·         Scholarship applications are separate
·         Class-room experience days available for high school students; spend time one-on-one with a current student!
UW- Parkside
·         Great location, situated between Milwaukee and Chicago
·         50% incoming class live in residence halls
·         Most diverse campus in UW System
·         New residence hall!
·         Strong connection with academic advisors
·         Program highlights: Theater Program won Teaching Excellence Award; new fine arts facility in 2011
·         Admissions application is reviewed for scholarship qualifications
UW- Whitewater
·         Program Highlights: Water Management, Media Arts and Game Development
·         WINS helps students keep track of application materials
·         Specialized transitional workshops for students with disabilities
UW- Superior
·         Swenson Scholarship offers the potential for a “full-ride” to students
·         Program Highlights: Art Therapy, Legal Studies, Transportation and Logistics
UW- Stout
·         Program Highlights: Cognitive Science, Supply Chain Management
·         Math and Reading Specialist Certification available in 2011!
·         Art Program very competitive; applicants must submit a portfolio for review
·         Tobacco-free campus by student vote
UW- Stevens Point
·         Top music program! Audition required
·         Applications for admission are reviewed for scholarship qualifications
UW- Oshkosh
·         3rd largest UW Systems campus
·         “Project Success” offered to students with disabilities
·         Program Highlights: Nursing, Special Education, Music (audition required), Environmental Health, Interactive Web Technology (coming 2011)
·         New Academic Center will open fall 2011
·         Proud of being a “Green Campus”
·         New Student Success Center (counseling, academic resources, career advising)
·         Residence Hall and Scholarship applications should be turned in early!
UW- Milwaukee
·         93% Wisconsin residents
·         Program Highlights: Nursing, Health Science, Biomedical Science, Architecture
·         Academic Opportunities Center helps students with admissions process
·         New residence halls!
UW- Madison
·         Utilizes the College Connections Program
·         Program Highlights: Dance and Music (auditions required)
·         Scholarship applications are submitted independently
·         Value placed on personal statements and references during application process
UW- La Crosse
·         Program Highlights: Exercise Science and Sports Medicine (may lead to graduate work)
·         New Academic Center fall 2011

UW- Green Bay
·         Articulation agreement with Palmer College of Chiropractic (Biology/ Chiropractic degree program)
